Research Discussion and Conclusion Help for Chapter 5

Bab 5 decides what your degree is worth, and it is the chapter written last, fastest and most tired. Candidates searching who can write my discussion chapter in 2026 have usually produced a second Bab 4 โ€” findings restated instead of interpreted โ€” plus a limitations section that reads like an apology and a contribution claim their penyelia cannot repeat back to them. It is also where a non-significant result is either defended properly or quietly buried, and where practical implications have to land somewhere real: KPM for a school study, KKM for a clinical one, an industry body for the rest. We write Bab 5 for a Sarjana or Doktor Falsafah so the contribution survives the first question at a viva โ€” original and AI-free.

Six Common Faults

Six Faults That Flatten a Discussion Chapter

A discussion chapter can be entirely accurate and still earn a weak grade.

๐Ÿ”

It Repeats Chapter 4 in Sentences

The beta values reappear as prose and nothing is added. If a reader can delete your entire discussion and lose no information, it has not discussed anything โ€” it has translated a table into paragraphs.

๐Ÿ“š

Nobody From Chapter 2 Reappears

You reviewed forty studies and cite three of them in the discussion. Every finding should be placed beside the work you already covered โ€” agreeing with it, contradicting it, or extending it into a context nobody had tested.

๐Ÿ™ˆ

The Unsupported Hypotheses Are Skipped

Four supported relationships discussed in detail and the one that failed reduced to a single sentence. Examiners read that as avoidance, and explaining a non-significant result well is one of the easiest ways to look like a careful researcher.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

The Implications Could Apply to Any Study

"Organisations should provide more training." "Policymakers should pay attention to this issue." Recommendations that do not follow from your specific finding, in your specific setting, add nothing and examiners recognise the filler immediately.

๐Ÿท๏ธ

Contribution Is Claimed but Never Argued

A paragraph stating the study contributes theoretically and practically, with no explanation of what was not known before and is known now. A contribution has to be demonstrated against the gap, not asserted at the end.

๐Ÿšช

The Conclusion Answers Different Questions

New information introduced at the last minute, or a conclusion that summarises the topic instead of answering the research questions set in Chapter 1. The conclusion is where the thesis closes its own loop, and an unclosed loop is obvious.

Discussion returned with comments? Send it with your Chapter 2 and Chapter 4 โ€” we'll tell you which of these six it is.

The Section Students Fear

How Do You Write Limitations Without Damaging Your Thesis?

Students either hide their limitations or confess too much. Both cost marks.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ

Examiners Already Know

Your cross-sectional design, your single-organisation sample, your self-reported measures โ€” all visible from Chapter 3. Omitting them does not hide them; it only removes your chance to show you understood them.

๐Ÿšซ

Don't Apologise for Doing a Master's

A limited sample, one sector, one state and a short window are the conditions of postgraduate research, not failures. Write them as scope decisions with reasons attached, not as confessions.

โžก๏ธ

Every Limitation Should Lead Somewhere

The strongest version of this section reads as a handover: this study could not do X, therefore future work should. Limitations and future research are one argument split across two headings.

๐ŸŽ“

What Actually Earns Credit

Naming the specific threat your design carries โ€” common method bias, low variance in a construct, restricted generalisability โ€” and saying what you did about it or why it was unavoidable. That reads as judgement, which is what is being assessed.

Arguing Against Benchmarks Instead of Survey Literature

Where there are no respondents, the discussion argues against benchmarks, prior models or reported industry figures instead of against survey literature. Engineering, computing and finance studies each need a different shape of argument.

What Counts as Original

What Counts as a Contribution to Knowledge? Eight Kinds a Thesis Can Claim

Most students assume contribution means discovering something nobody has ever thought. It rarely does.

๐Ÿง
Theoretical Extension
Adding a variable, a mediator or a moderator to an established model and showing it changes the relationship. The most common doctoral contribution in Malaysian business research, and the easiest to argue when it is real.
๐ŸŒ
Contextual Contribution
Testing a relationship in a setting where it has not been examined. Defensible only when you can argue why the context should matter โ€” cultural, regulatory or structural differences, not simply a different country name.
๐Ÿ”ง
Methodological Contribution
Approaching a well-studied question with a design nobody has used โ€” qualitative where everything was survey-based, longitudinal where everything was cross-sectional, or a mixed approach that reconciles conflicting findings.
๐Ÿ‘ฅ
Population Contribution
Evidence about a group the literature has ignored: gig workers, B40 households, rural teachers, SME owners. Straightforward to evidence and often undervalued by students who assume it is not enough.
๐Ÿ“
Instrument Contribution
Adapting and validating a scale for a Malaysian population, or developing a measure where none existed. The validation evidence from your own Chapter 4 is what makes this claimable.
๐Ÿข
Practical Contribution
A usable output โ€” a guideline, framework or decision tool that practitioners in your sector can apply. Common in applied master's programmes and expected in most DBA theses.
๐Ÿ“œ
Policy Contribution
Evidence that speaks directly to a national blueprint, regulator or public-sector programme. Strongest when you name the instrument and show which of your findings bears on it.
๐Ÿ”
Replication and Confirmation
Confirming or failing to confirm a contested relationship. Undervalued everywhere, but a failed replication with a sound design is a genuine contribution and examiners who understand research say so.

Not sure which of these your study can claim?Send your gap and your findings. We'll tell you which contribution is arguable and which would not survive questioning.

The Difference

What Turns a Summary Into a Discussion

The gap between the two is not length or vocabulary. It is whether anything is being argued.

๐Ÿ“š

We Read Your Chapter 2, Not Just Your Results

A discussion is a conversation between your findings and the literature you reviewed. Writing one without the review produces generic commentary that could belong to any study in your field.

๐Ÿ”

Failed Hypotheses Get the Longest Paragraphs

They are the most interesting thing in most theses and the most neglected. A well-explained non-significant result demonstrates judgement in a way that four confirmations never do.

๐ŸŽฏ

Contribution Is Tested Before It Is Written

We tell you at the outline stage if the contribution you hope to claim cannot be defended from your findings. Better to hear it from us at stage three than from an examiner at your viva.

๐Ÿญ

Implications Name a Real Actor

Who should do what, in which setting, on the basis of which finding. If a recommendation could be lifted into an unrelated thesis without editing, it gets rewritten or removed.

โš–๏ธ

Limitations Are Written to Help You

Framed as scope decisions with reasons, each one leading into a future research suggestion. Handled well, this section adds marks rather than costing them.

๐Ÿ”’

The Conclusion Adds Nothing New

A surprising number of drafts introduce fresh claims on the final page. Your conclusion answers the questions you set in Chapter 1, in order, and stops there.

StudentF.A.
ProgrammeMBA HRM
TaskChapter 5 Rewrite
TriggerSupervisor Rejection
โœ“ Accepted at Resubmission
๐Ÿ”ด The Problem

F.A. had four research questions and a conclusion that summarised her topic without answering any of them. Her discussion cited six sources, five of which had not appeared in her own literature review. One hypothesis had failed and received a single sentence saying the relationship was not significant. Her contribution paragraph claimed both theoretical and practical significance without explaining what had not been known before. Her supervisor returned the chapter with one line: "This tells me nothing your Chapter 4 did not already say."

๐Ÿ”ต What We Did

We mapped each finding to studies already in her Chapter 2. The divergence in one finding became the most valuable paragraph, explained through low variance in a single-organisation sample. The failed hypothesis was expanded into a full argument about boundary conditions. Her contribution was reframed as contextual and instrument-based, which her findings could genuinely support.

๐ŸŸข The Result

The chapter was accepted at resubmission. Her supervisor singled out the explanation of the non-significant result as the strongest passage in the thesis, and the reframed contribution held up without further questions at her viva.

Sample Work

Sample Discussion Chapters and What Each One Argued

Chapter 01 ยท MBA Human Resource Management
Flexible Work Arrangements and Turnover Intention in a Shared Service Centre
Contribution: contextual + instrument
Received

A discussion citing sources that were not in her own review, a failed hypothesis in one sentence, and a conclusion answering none of her four questions.

Argued

Divergence from Western samples explained through low construct variance, the failed relationship expanded into a boundary-condition argument, and contribution reframed to what the findings could support.

Why It Worked

The claim shrank and became defensible. An arguable contextual contribution beats an unarguable theoretical one every time.

Chapter 02 ยท PhD Education Policy
Teacher Response to Assessment Reform in National-Type Schools
Contribution: theoretical + policy
Received

Qualitative themes reported in Chapter 4 and a discussion that restated them, with implications addressed vaguely to "policymakers".

Argued

Each theme placed against implementation literature, a boundary added to the theory where it did not travel to the Malaysian school context, and implications written against named policy instruments.

Why It Worked

Naming the instrument turned a vague appeal into something a reader could act on and an examiner could assess.

Chapter 03 ยท MSc Civil Engineering
Performance of Recycled Aggregate Mixes Against Design Benchmarks
Contribution: methodological + replication
Received

Test results with no discussion at all, and a supervisor comment asking what the numbers meant against published values.

Argued

Results compared to design standards and prior published mixes, deviations explained through material sourcing, and a partial non-replication reported openly as a finding rather than smoothed over.

Why It Worked

Technical discussions argue against benchmarks, not survey literature. Once framed that way the chapter wrote itself.

FAQ

Research Discussion and Conclusion Help Malaysia โ€” Frequently Asked Questions

A full Chapter 5 starts at RM 320 for FYP level, RM 480 for master's and MBA, and RM 780 for PhD. Individual sections cost far less โ€” a contribution statement is RM 180, limitations and future research RM 160, and the conclusion alone RM 220. A rewrite after supervisor comments is RM 280. You get an exact figure before paying anything.

Take each finding in turn and place it beside the studies in your own literature review โ€” does it agree, contradict, or extend them into a context nobody had tested? That comparison is the discussion. Then argue the contribution against the gap you identified, write implications that name a real actor, and close with limitations that lead into future research. A discussion that never revisits Chapter 2 is not a discussion.

Far more than students assume. Extending a model with a new variable, testing a relationship in an untested context, using a different design on a well-studied question, providing evidence about an ignored population, validating an instrument for a Malaysian sample, producing a usable practical output, informing a named policy, or confirming a contested finding. Most theses can claim two of these honestly. Very few need to claim something nobody has ever thought.

At length, and early rather than buried. Give a real explanation โ€” sample characteristics, low variance in the construct, contextual differences from the studies you cited, or a genuine boundary on the theory. Examiners read a well-argued non-significant result as evidence of judgement. They read a one-sentence dismissal as avoidance, which costs more marks than the failed hypothesis ever did.

No. The conclusion answers each research question from Chapter 1 in order, in plain sentences, and introduces nothing new. It is the shortest section in the chapter and the one examiners re-read before deciding. A conclusion that summarises the topic instead of answering the questions leaves the thesis visibly unclosed.

Name the actor, the setting and the finding. "Organisations should train employees" applies to every thesis ever written. "Shared service centres in Klang Valley should extend flexible arrangements to junior analysts, given that autonomy predicted retention more strongly than salary in this sample" applies only to yours. If a recommendation could be moved into an unrelated thesis unchanged, it is filler.

Yes, at the same rate as English. The difficulty in BM discussion chapters is theoretical terminology โ€” the terms used for your constructs and your theory must match what appeared in Bab 1 and Bab 2, and drift between chapters is noticed immediately. We align them rather than translating the chapter in isolation.

Usually, and often by claiming less rather than more. Overstated theoretical claims collapse under questioning, while a contextual or instrument contribution that your findings genuinely support holds. Send the panel's comments with your Chapter 2 and Chapter 4 and we will tell you which contribution is arguable before rewriting anything.

It writes the shape of one convincingly, which is the danger. What it produces is commentary that sounds like a discussion while comparing your findings to studies it has invented, or to real studies it has not read. Since a discussion is judged entirely on whether it argues against your own literature review, generated text fails on exactly the thing being assessed โ€” and the fabricated comparisons are checkable in minutes.

Go finding by finding rather than running the chapter through a tool. For each result, delete the general commentary and replace it with a named study from your own Chapter 2, stating whether your result agrees or diverges and why. That single move removes most of the generated text and simultaneously fixes the weakness that made the chapter thin in the first place.

Because the citations are traceable to a document your supervisor already has. If your discussion cites six studies and five never appeared in your literature review, that is visible without any detection tool โ€” and it is exactly the pattern generated discussions produce, because the model reaches for plausible sources rather than yours.

Completely. Your findings, framework and finished chapter are used only for your order, never reused as sample work, never shared beyond the writer assigned to you, and deleted once the order closes. A contribution argument is the most distinctive thing in a thesis and it stays yours alone.

It will write one, and it will be too big. Ask a model what your study contributes and it reaches for the grandest available claim โ€” a new theoretical framework, a novel model โ€” because that is what contribution statements in its training data sound like. Your findings then cannot carry it, and an overstated contribution is the single easiest thing for a panel to dismantle. The safer claim is almost always the smaller one your data genuinely supports.

Usually, because generated limitations are generic by nature: small sample, cross-sectional design, single geographic area, self-reported data. Those appear in thousands of theses and say nothing about yours. A real limitations section names the specific threat your design carries, says what you did about it or why it was unavoidable, and leads into a future research suggestion. That level of specificity is what a model cannot produce without your actual study in front of it.

Your institution decides, and the answer is increasingly yes for declaration purposes even when the tool only corrected language. Many Malaysian universities and transnational campuses now ask you to declare any generative assistance, and they distinguish between permitted and undeclared use rather than between grammar and content. Read your programme's policy before submitting โ€” a declared, permitted use is almost never the problem; an undeclared one is.
